About Janko Brand:

Innovator, Leader and Problem-Solver in Biotechnology and Diagnostics

Hi, I’m Janko Brand. I’m passionate about turning cutting-edge science into practical solutions in biotechnology, diagnostics, and healthcare. Over the past decade, I’ve worn many hats—as a scientist, entrepreneur, business developer, and mentor—always driving innovation and making an impact.

Currently, I’m the Head of Business Development for Surface Chemistry at e-Proteins, where I develop advanced biotin-binding solutions that go beyond traditional streptavidin systems by identifying market opportunities and forging strategic partnerships.

In 2015, I founded DBP Consult, a consultancy that helps diagnostics, biotech, and pharmaceutical companies with business development, recruitment, and KOL engagement, all while mentoring professionals at every stage of their careers.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I co-founded Sapoto to implement tailored hygiene and testing solutions. I also managed Berlin’s COVID-19 test centers at 21Dx GmbH, leading a team of 250. My journey began at BioTeZ, where I advanced from Senior Scientist to Head of Business Development, handling projects ranging from companion diagnostics to clinical research. I also launched OneWorldDoctors.org, a telemedicine initiative connecting global experts with underserved regions.

My early research at the Max Delbrück Center, the Max Planck Institute for Infectious Diseases, and Freie Universität Berlin laid a solid foundation in surface chemistry, virology, and membrane protein dynamics—experiences that continue to guide my work at the intersection of science and business.

I thrive on connecting the dots between innovation and practical solutions, mentoring emerging talent, and transforming complex challenges into actionable strategies. I’m excited about the future of biotechnology and diagnostics and welcome opportunities for collaboration.
